Stay InformedIn many First Nation communities, including the Anishinabek Nation of the Great Lakes, corn, squash, and beans are called “The Three Sisters”. Dating back to the 1600s, First Nations taught settlers to this land how to plant these crops side by side as they help each other during growth, make better use of the land, and also yield better results at harvest.
During our time of thanksgiving, I acknowledge that here in Wasaga Beach we are situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinabek people and have benefited in many ways from their teachings and medicine.
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend celebrating this time of harvest and thanksgiving with family, friends, and all who are near and dear.
